Fuerza de Frida 

Fuerza de Frida – the strength of Frida is my fine art photography series, inspired by the life and work of the vibrant and most celebrated female painter of all time: the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

When I travelled through Mexico years ago, I was deeply moved by the murals of Frida’s face everywhere I went. But the moment that truly stopped me in my tracks was when I unexpectedly came face to face with The Broken Column. I stood there, frozen. The image struck something deep within me, and in that moment I knew I wanted to create something inspired by her life and art one day.
Frida’s life was one of courage, strength and vulnerability — of passion and pain, symbolism and fierce resilience. She was rebellious, fearless, and unapologetically herself. Open and outspoken in her illness, her love, her work and her appearance. It was this radical honesty that turned her into a timeless icon.
In Fuerza de Frida, I have translated her symbolism and power into striking portraits of women today. Each image tells a part of Frida’s story, while also reflecting a universal narrative of resilience, identity and individuality.
This series is my tribute to the power of women, everywhere in the world.
